bidating - Ms word table of figures not updating
Even if you didn't use the caption option to label your figures, Word can pick out labels based on a unique text style to create the table with far less work than it takes to draw and maintain a table by hand.
Add captions to every figure using the "Insert Caption" option on the References tab.
The problem that I am facing right now is that when a figure is removed, Microsoft Word doesn't automatically reupdate "X".
Using an example to illustrate the situation better: From the Microsoft Word Help: "By default, Word automatically updates fields when a document is opened. To manually update all the fields in the main body of a document, press CTRL A, and then press F9.
Each of the figures has been labeled with a caption "Figure X: ____" using the "Insert Caption" feature under "References".
"X" is a number that is auto-generated by Microsoft Word, which is "X 1" of the previous figure.
I’ve even reinserted the List of Tables/Figures — all to no avail. I’ve suspected it was to do with track changes being on in the document, even though none of the captions or the paragraphs surrounding them were the subject of tracked changes.
