Rules of text messaging dating
One of my male clients recently called because he hadn’t heard from the girl he’d just spent the night with.
I do understand the appeal for the sender; there is no pressure on what to say if you’re turned down.
But as a woman, if a man doesn’t think enough of me to pick up the phone and speak with me then I’m not interested…and I hope to empower all women to feel that way. So when you first meet someone set a boundary that you want to communicate verbally.
That means if your text goes over 160 characters it may carry over into a second text message, depending on the recipient's phone service provider.
If you see your story turning into a multi-text saga, email or call instead. Even though everyone seems to be glued to their cell phones these days, you can't assume the people you text receive your messages right after you send them.
I’m not a fan of rules but I do feel there needs to be one big bold rule about text messaging: NEVER send a text message to communicate emotions or feelings!
